B&BAccommodation options at the Thomas Shop:

The 3 star B&B and Self Catering accommodation is ideally situated in Central Wales as a holiday base for individuals, families and groups to visit the many attractions and to enjoy the Radnorshire landscape. It offers access to the countryside for walking, cycling, and  a range of outdoor and indoor pursuits.
More specialist accommodation services include Respite for carers and their families, and creative breaks for individuals or groups wanting to learn a new skill, attend one of our regular craft courses, or simply have studio space finish a piece of work.

Attractions at the Thomas shop:

The Thomas Shop Museum is distinctively nostalgic and evocative of times gone by. Established in 1730, the current shop is the modernisation of 1805, and spans 4 centuries of service to the community. Described as ‘the restoration of a village treasure’ it now contains an extraordinary collection of memorabilia mostly donated by members of the community.

The Wool Emporium

The Galleries at the Thomas Shop feature local and Welsh artists and crafts people. In particular the Wool Emporium celebrates wool and textile art and design across Wales. Sponsored initially by Glasu through the European Union, the Wool Emporium has become a centre for creative enterprise and the revival of traditional skills. You can see, and/or purchase: fashion garments and bags, that have been knitted, woven, and felted; jewellery; pottery; cards; wool mattresses and insulation; toys; turned bowls and goblets. A range of novelties that link to the period of the shop are also available and include: spinning tops; jack in the box; skipping ropes; and kits for making things yourself.

Activities at the Thomas Shop:

The Thomas Shop is a centre for creative courses and breaks. A programme of courses and workshops is published regularly. The courses have included: Spinning and weaving, knitting, felt landscapes and needle felt, carving in wood, sculpture with wax and wire, and copper work and we welcome enquiries from teachers and from groups with a particular interest.
The Engine Room Cafe

Catering at the Thomas Shop:

The Cafe / Tearoom at the Thomas Shop has become increasingly popular as an indoor venue by a log fire for wet, windy and cold days, and as an outdoor facility for warm sunny days to sit by the river and perhaps see a kingfisher fly by. Specialising in homemade light lunches, Welsh cream teas, cakes, and a selection of biscuits, all can be served with a wide assortment of teas served in the pot, fruit juices, first rate Ferrari coffee to suit all tastes, and/or the excellent Llanfaes Dairy Ice Cream.

Thomas Shop as a Venue:

The Thomas Shop is a venue for group visits, meetings, business courses / conferences, weddings, parties and social events. The Old Laundry is versatile and friendly room that can cater for up to 50 people. Local societies, such as U3A, meet here regularly, as well as sewing, spinning and weaving social events.

Ethos of the Thomas Shop
Home crafted and locally sourced products and materials are the underpinning ethos of the Thomas Shop. The Turner family will ensure you receive a warm welcome.
