Liz &Derek(Proprietors)

Liz and Derek moved from South Gloucestershire to Maesyfed in 2000. They had seen their 5 children grow up and start independent lives of their own. Education, probation/social work trained, they have between them an wide range of experience in working with people and in project development.Liz is currently working on a number of projects to build upon the achievements at the Thomas Shop. She has been working with Laura Ashley Foundation, Minerva, Jen Jones and the National Wool Museum to develop a Textile Trail across Mid Wales. In developing the heritage aspect of the shop, Liz has identified a need for a Welsh made traditional doll. She is working with a number of very skilled carvers to develop and hopefully market the doll. Derek divides his time between working for the Thomas Shop and for Powys Agency for Mental Health. His work on Recovery and Self Righting with Helen Glover , from Australia, is beginning to have a significant influence on service development in Wales and wider afield.
